a very light beauty fitness training program to begin with so that you don't put too much stress on areas such as your knees and back whilst you are carrying so much excess weight as this could create permanent damage to these areas.

Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and there is no set standard but if you want to look your best you need a toned and active body.
10 Easy Beauty Fitness Exercises for Beginners:

To counteract any tendency to slouch – stand with feet shoulder width apart and hands on hips, stretch your body backwards into a bow shape. Be careful not to hurt your back. Keep your shoulders back and raise your sternum (breast bone). Feel your side muscles stretch to their full length. It's a good idea to do this exercise at intervals if you sit at a desk all day.

Fill your lungs with air and stretch up from the waist as though you are about to sing. This helps to lift you to your full height, keep your shoulders back and down.

Imagine a cord attached to the top of your head and feel it stretching you upwards. Most back problems are due to bad
posture and collapsing the spine. Stand up tall and straight.

If you have access to stairs then make the most of them. Walk smartly up and down them whilst stretching up from the waist. Walking up and down the stairs is a good
fat burning exercise as well as toning up leg muscles.

Whenever you walk, walk purposefully. Set a good pace and swing your arms.
Walking exercises almost all your muscles and burns 325 calories an hour. Walk briskly, swing your arms, hold your shoulders back and down, lift your ribcage and hold you stomach in.

Enjoy the luxurious feeling of stretching and stretch often. Stretching lengthens muscles and helps to keep them toned, long toned muscles are extremely attractive.

Tense and release muscles slowly. Tensing and releasing muscles tones muscles, it's the slow release after tensing that has the most effect. Never stand with your knees locked, always stand with about half an inch of play in the joint so you make your leg muscles work to keep you balanced. If you lock your knee joint straight the muscles relax.

Beauty Fitness Exercises:
1. Walking Lunges
- Stand with your feet hip width apart, hold a pair of dumbbells with your arms straight at your sides, palms in. Take a large step forward and lower your body so that your front knee lines up with your ankle. The back knee is almost touching the floor.
Push off with your back foot and take a large step forward with your other foot. Walk lunge 15-20 steps and then turn around and return to the start using the same form. You should contract your glutes on the lowering of each movement. This exercise strengthens your glute muscles which form the buttock and move the thigh.
2. Extension Step Ups
- Hold a pair of dumbbells by your sides with palms facing the side of the body. Stand behind a 6 -to 12-inch high step (normally used in aerobic step classes) and keep your arms straight. Step onto the middle of the step with your right foot and then lift your left knee high (to hip height). Step down with your left foot, then repeat on the right side. This is a great one and you'll really feel it.
3. Bent Leg Reverse Kick Up
- Start this exercise on your hands and knees on a mat. Raise your left leg up until it is parallel with the floor with a slight bend in the knee. Support your weight with your arms and right leg. While contracting the butt, lift your left leg up and toward the ceiling, maintaining a bend in the knee.
Slowly return to the starting position. After completing the set on the left side, repeat on the right side. To increase the difficulty, you may want to add an ankle weight to the working leg.
4. Lying Gluteus Lift
- Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet on the floor. Place your arms at your sides for support.
Contracting the glutes, project your hips up toward the ceiling as you lift your glutes off the floor. Slowly return to the starting position stopping just short of your glutes touching the floor.
Exhale while lifting your butt, and inhale while returning to the starting position.

5. Smith Machine Rear Squat
- A Smith machine is a piece of equipment used in weight training. It consists of a barbell that is fixed within steel rails, allowing only vertical movement. If you don’t have access to a Smith machine (at your local gym for instance) then you can use free weights, but for safety reasons be very careful.
Place the bar across the back of your shoulders. Be sure it's not resting on your neck. Your feet should be shoulder-distance apart. Lower the weight, keeping your knees behind the toes at all times. Think of sitting back into a chair and contract the glutes on the lowering phase.
Stop when the knees are at a 90 degree angle. Return to the starting position and repeat. Inhale while lowering the weight and exhale while returning to the starting position. Do not let your knees ride over your toes (you should be able to see your feet at all times), and don't arch your back.
6. Cycling
- Riding a bike is great for your glutes, hips and thighs. Get your glutes involved by leading with your heels when you push down on the pedals. On the upswing, pull up on the pedal (providing you've got foot straps) to make sure you're using every part of your legs during your workout. For brief periods, lift your butt off the seat and slowly pedal as you contract the butt.
7. Stepmill
- This is an excellent cardio exercise, and it works the glutes with absolute precision. This machine is not to be confused with the Stairmaster. The stepmill actually has revolving steps and is extremely difficult to use, they are not always found in gyms. At home equivalent is walking or jogging up and down the stairs.
Beginners
should use the hand rails and take it slow because this will get your heart rate up very fast with very little speed. Keeping the program on manual will help you keep control of the speed and give you the ability to slow down when you need to and then return to a higher speed once rested. This is called interval training.
The hip, knee, ankle and spine all benefit from this exercise so not only are you conditioning your heart and lungs you are also working on muscle groups with muscular endurance. The core is hit by it having to keep you properly upright throughout the motion.
8. Running
- If you have excessive body fat to lose, then this may not be your best bet due to the stress it will place on your knees.
However, a gradual program works great for those who just want to tone up and have less than 25 pounds to lose. Try to build up to 4 days per week for 30 minutes and remember to invest in high quality running shoes.
9. Leg Press/Feet High
- This is another one for you to try at the gym. It's amazing what a simple change of foot positioning can do. Try the leg press with your feet placed high on the platform. This simple change of positioning will activate the butt and hamstrings as well. Lower the weight until you feel the glutes contract. You'll definitely feel this one.
10. Ankle Weight Butt Blaster
- Get on the floor on your hands and knees. Relax your shoulders and find a neutral spine with your head at a natural extension of your neck. Extend the left leg up with a 90 degree angle at the knee. Your foot should be parallel with the ceiling.
Contracting the glutes, push your foot up toward the ceiling. Stop when your leg is at a full extension from the hip maintaining the 90 degree angle at the knee. Return to the starting position. After completing the set on the left side, repeat on the right side.

If you are overweight and feel self-conscious about how you look and how unfit you are, then the gym will be the last place you want to go. There are alternatives these days however, and so it is possible to design a
beauty fitness training program at home that is similar to what you would do at the gym.
Home gym equipment can be as
simple as a rug to lie on when doing floor exercises, and a couple of
cans of soup to offer weight training - or it could be as sophisticated
as a home version of the most technologically advanced weight training,
rowing or cycling machine on the market.
When choosing equipment, for your beauty
fitness consider what you are most likely to use, the size of your
budget and where you will locate the equipment in your home.
If you have limited physical space available, you
may have to consider equipment that folds down for storage, but if you have
somewhere that it can stand permanently ready to use, you will be more likely to
use it every day.
If you aren't sure where to start designing a
beauty fitness program, you could book a private session with a personal trainer at a gym. If you do this before purchasing any home equipment, you will be able to see what kind of program the personal trainer recommends for you, and which equipment they think will suit you best. Although you may be starting to exercise at a very basic level, you need to consider that this will increase and the equipment you buy needs to be flexible to work at both basic and more intense levels.
A home beauty fitness program can be just as effective as one carried out in the gym. The main difference is that of motivation. It's much easier to ignore the equipment standing in the corner of your bedroom, than it is to skip going to a scheduled appointment at the gym - and once you get to the gym you are likely to work out at some level, even when you're feeling tired.
If motivation to move doesn't come easy to you, create a way such as a reward chart - similar to that you would create for a child - where you reward yourself with a special purchase or treat each time you complete a set amount of beauty fitness exercise sessions.
